illness support
As Certified Child Life Specialists, we can help guide your child toward an accurate, healthy understanding of the illness experience. If children are conscientiously included in the crisis, they can be guided toward accurate, healthy interpretations of the events and learn adaptive coping skills.
doctor & dentist visits
Whether your child will be visiting the doctor for a physical exam, vaccinations, surgery, or painfully invasive medical treatment, we can prepare her or him using age-appropriate language and techniques. Together we can help your child practice coping methods and feel empowered and prepared for a potentially anxiety-provoking experience by providing developmentally appropriate and honest information.
new sibling
We can help prepare your child to meet the newest member of your family. A sibling relationship is the longest connection your child will have, and we can help you invest these first crucial encounters with a purpose: to love, connect, and understand the importance of this life-long relationship.
grief counseling
Our Certified Child Life Specialists have specialized expertise in grief and bereavement and can help your child understand loss, participate in healthy and therapeutic outlets, and explore a variety of age-appropriate coping methods. We also offer legacy work and memory-making activities to aid in the bereavement process.
pet loss
The loving relationship between your child and your animal can have a substantial impact on the child’s emotional development if your pet becomes ill or is at the end of its life. Your pet’s illness might be your child’s first experience with sickness and/or thoughts of death or dying. We can help by providing developmentally appropriate information regarding the aminal’s illness, offer grief support and memory keepsakes throughout the final veterinary visits.
hospice
Using a combination of legacy work, grief activities, bereavement counseling, and in-person support throughout end of life, we can create individualized therapeutic interventions for a child experiencing someone actively dying.
memorial services
As experts in grief, bereavement support, and education, we can help support your child through life’s most difficult moments by providing them with developmentally appropriate preparation in order to more fully participate in and process the events honoring a loved one.
